Final Buzzer: The Last Two Minutes That Defined OBP Sportsfest 2025

The last two minutes of the games are always the most crucial. Every second matters, and every move has to be deliberate. When the scores are close, the line between winning and defeat starts to blur. Suddenly, we were cheering for people we barely knew—some we met months ago, most of them we just met earlier that day. Some of them we recognized only by face, and a few—we didn't even know their names. But in that moment, none of it mattered. Somehow, all the emotions felt familiar: the pain, rage, pressure, and the one desire to win. In those final moments, you see what players are made of—and sometimes, that's when the magic happens. Most of us had never felt anything like it before.

Myth, Momentum, and Team Spirit

OBP Sportsfest 2025 came in strong—louder, bolder, and more intense than ever. Across the Araneta and Gamma sites, employees traded their office routines for jerseys, game faces, and team colors. With this year’s theme ''Where Legends Are Rising", this season brought out the best in every player and team. Employees went head-to-head in major sports like basketball, volleyball, and badminton, while also enjoying lighthearted games such as Jenga, chess, and pick-up sticks. With the rise of esports, Mobile Legends has also emerged as a crowd favorite—especially among Filipino gamers—adding a modern twist to the competition.

Legends in Motion

For OBP Sportsfest 2025 MVP for Basketball and also one of the Mythical Five, Joseph, the real win wasn't the title—it was the trust, support, and energy his team gave him from the first whistle to the final buzzer. "Our strength was really our speed, but honestly, I wouldn't be MVP if my teammates didn't trust me to take the shots. I wouldn't have scored those points without them." For him, it all came down to teamwork and the trust they had in each other.

The crowd favorite from Team Ares Red Warriors admitted that they didn't rely on a fixed strategy. Their goal was simple: give it their all and leave the crowd with a game to remember. In the end, it was that quiet chemistry—fueled by trust—that carried them through. The scoreboard told one story, but the spirit with which they played told a far greater one.

“I really wanted us to win. Last year, we were up against the same team, and we lost. I just wanted to bounce back.”

Those words from Toni, OBP Sportsfest 2025 Volleyball MVP, say it all. Fueled by unfinished business and a fierce determination to turn things around, she became the heartbeat of the Hephaestus Black Forgers—leading them to a well-earned championship win.

Toni proudly credits her team, The Hephaestus Black Forgers, for pushing through and claiming this season’s championship. “We worked well together because we didn’t let missed shots or mistakes get in our heads. Instead of staying stuck on them, we focused on how to recover and keep going.” A thrilling finish, a well-fought win, and a reminder that growth comes from rising after every fall.

While we heard about unfinished goals at OBP Sportsfest 2025, for Kylah, winning Best Muse felt like coming back to something close to her heart.

“I used to join beauty pageants in school and in our barangay,” she said. “But I had to step away for a while to focus on my personal life.”

That all changed when Kylah was chosen to represent the Green Demeters as their Muse—a moment that reignited an old passion. “I love the Green Team, and it meant so much to me to represent them with pride—especially since I was also part of the Cheerdance crew,” she said.

From past pageants to the vibrant spirit of Sportsfest, Kylah’s return to the spotlight at OBP Sportsfest 2025 proves that some dreams never fade—they simply wait for the right time to shine again.

Forged for Glory

The Artemis Grey Hunters emerged as the OBP Sportsfest 2025 Overall Champion, proving their mettle across the board. With championship titles in Cheerdance, Badminton, and Chess. Team Captain Sheena credited their success to the commitment and teamwork shown by every member—on and off the court. “It was never about the medals, the trophy, or the prize money,” Sheena said. “What mattered was how we grew, how we supported each other, and the kind of team we became. I’m proud of the Artemis Grey Hunters for showing what the true spirit of the OBP Sportsfest is all about.”

The Final Buzzer

Loud, raw, and full of heart—our voices echoed through the FilOil Arena. But for once, the shouting wasn’t a distraction—it was power. It was an intent. It fueled us and powered through the teams we were supporting. We screamed not just for victory, but for the colors that united us. The final two minutes of the games felt like the longest two minutes of our lives. As the teams battled fiercely for the championship and the star players stepped up to break the tie, one thing became clear: no matter who took home the trophy, only one spirit triumphed above all—the OBP spirit—that is the spirit of unity, passion, and heart.
